Hello everyone I am back to blogging again. As the summer heats up (kinda) and school wines down I figured I could try to make the time to write again. It is really hard to blog when your a full time worker and student. Anyways I decided to make my first entry from my little hiatus about hair. No not Hair the Broadway play ( although I did see that two summers back when it was in Central Park. Really good. If you have the time and money check it out!). I digress…So I was up in Washington Heights after school and I was in this deli buying a 24 when this guy with dreads turns to me and says “Welcome back” I said s’scuse me? As I did not know him I wanted to know where it was exactly I was coming back to.”Welcome back to natural.” He was talking about my hair!

For those of you who do not know last year on my birthday I took a HUGE risk and cut my hair. It is now a beautiful afro. I was really scared when I did it but I have received nothing but compliments, even if I didn’t I love it. While this guys comment was interesting it really irked me! I know hair seems to be a big issue in the black community, but heres my take on it. I have changed my hair a hundred million times. I went from braids and beads and twists with barrettes as a little girl, to extensions with blond streaks, to straightend hair, to perming it, to bangs, no bangs, to cutting that and making it into a bob, to having hair down to the middle of my back, to now having an afro. I do not think of my hair as a race issue. I think of my hair as an expression of myself, who I am. I am someone who is constantly changing and I like to change my hair when I am bored with it. For some reason my afro has garnered a lot of attention. People are under the impression I am making some black power statement and its so joyous. Honestly I am not doing any such thing. The hair salon I went to messed up my hair and I decided I wanted to start over so I did! It was really that simple. Furthermore I hate when people who have dreads, which is not at ALL a natural hairstyle comment on what other people are doing with their hair. They often times feel as though they are going against mainstream straightening and making a statement. Now I am not generalizing, but in my personal experience it has been someone with dreadlocks. It has been said by ignorant people that straigthening your hair is trying to be white and ashamed of the kinkiness. This is ridiculous, white people straighten their hair too. A lot of people do stuff to their hair to make it more managable.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with perming and straigtening your hair. There is nothing wrong with putting pieces and weaves in your hair. There is nothing wrong with wearing a wig. Hair is an expression of who you are. Hair is an art form. Hair is just that HAIR. GET OVER IT. Wearing fake hair has also branched out of the black community, most celebrities from Jessica Simposon to the Kardashians do the same thing. It all depends on how a person feels. Ladies, especially black ladies, do what you want to your hair, whatever makes you feel beautiful and good inside. This should not be a race sensitive issue. There are bigger battles to fight. So thank you sir, for welcoming me back but NO THANKS. Your greeting comes from a place of prejudice and only one person can judge and he’s upstairs. I do not need anyone to tell me my hair is or is not black enough. Comments like these are irrelevant to my life. We all need to stop constricting ourselves to these racial boxes…especially since race does not exist. YEAH GUYS it doesn’t we are apart of one race, and in our human race we have different ethnicities. Race is just a social term to describe the skin color of these ethnicities in a politically incorrect way. If people were different races we would not be able to mix races and mate with whoever, its just color pigmentation!

There I just blew your mind! Until next time folks.Love, peace and hair grease.Bisous.

I went to see the movie Paranormal Activity the other day, with my boyfriend and his mom. Previous to that, I had been trying to find illegal streams of the movie online. Which was a pretty epic fail, probably one of the only movies I could not find. Anywho I was pretty pretty pretty excited to see the movie; everyone said it super spooky and I’m the type of girl who likes to be scurred! I personally believe in the spiritual aspects of things, so I will say the movie was an accurate account of real stories. Otherwise that movie was NOT I repeat NOT worth the money.

Using the same home movie technic as The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity is based on a couple trying to capture the demonic events taking place in their home. It has a slow build up and way toooooo many intimate everyday moments to keep ones attention. I was not at all scared and amazed at how short it was. The best part of the movie was the gay boy in the seat in front of us announcing that he would “kick her ass out” and “leave her ass.” Everyone save your mula and wait for it to come out on dvd, on demand and hopefully online streams. The once avant garde technic, does not have the same qualities as it did with the movies predecessors; the whole home movie aspect seemed overrated in this flick. Out of five stars I would give it a solid three.

Instead spend your money on Where the Wild Things Are or Couples Retreat. I’m hoping to see them in the near future as well, but I have a good feeling about these two.

Hello everyone! I am back after a much needed September hiatus getting my life together. Resolving finance issues, getting courses, working etc… I will try to update my blog weekly; sometimes that will be hard because the real world just never stops moving, but I will find the time!

I decided to make my first entry about things we can do to (as Diddy would say) “preserve your sexy”:

1. EAT BEETS- If you enjoy a poison called alcohol eating beets is crucial! This underrated root vegetable cleanses your body , specifically, your liver and digestive system of toxins. It is filled with anti-carcinogens and has tons of antioxidants. The effect of beets is said to be so strong, one must start off with small doses at first and steadily increase to twice a day. They can be found at supermarkets in a can, whole or sliced for no more than a buck! You can also buy the beet’s whole and juice it, although finding them whole in the city is a little harder. Caution your poop and pee might come out red, but its only the strong coloring of the beets NOT BLOOD or anything serious.

2. Moisturize- If you wanna keep your youthful, baby butt smooth skin, moisturizing NOW is key! It was at first believed that you should moisturize when you got wrinkles. BIG misconception, studies show that it is easier to prevent damage than to reverse it. There are some people out there who still think that if you moisturize now your skin will become immune;those people are going to look extremely old! Cindy Crawford started moisturizing at 28 which is why she still looks 28. Sources say starting as early as 20 or 21 is a safe bet to preserve skin. Take measures ladies START TODAY!

3.Yeast infections- Gross! There is nothing worse than cottage cheese discharge oozing out of your vagina and itching and aching on the way. Yeast infections occur when you bodies ph balance is thrown out of whack. Funny enough, the meds doctors give you make it worse. Best way to get rid of a yeast infection is to use a natural remedy. There are two that were most praised yogurt and garlic. With yogurt you have to take a turkey baster and squirt it in your vagina; with garlic you have to insert a fresh peeled clove into your vagina. These both may sound odd but nothings more disgusting than the pus coming from inside of you. Try it, your body will be restored within two days depending on the severity. Go to https://www.msu.edu/~eisthen/yeast/yourself.html for more information.

4. Egg yourself- When I was in sixth grade my forehead was covered in blackheads galore. My huge bangs blocked my pores, causing the grease to clog up. Needless to say my complexion was gross. One day my mom told me a remedy my grandmother used to keep her skin clean. Take an egg, crack it over a bowl, let the egg white drop into the bowl and collect the yoke into the shells to throw away. Take the egg whites and cover your face with it. Leave on until the mask dries (or longer if you’d like), then wash it off. I have no clue what the whites of the eggs are made of, but I saw result INSTANTLY. My skin has never been that blemished again. It cleared up within the month. I continue to use it on really bad days, because it clears marks and makes your skin super soft. I guarantee anyone who uses it, no matter what skin type or color will see a huge difference.

5. Professional Bottles- My friend Jeannie told me this and I have since remained true to it. Buy large professional bottles of shampoo and conditioner. It’s worth it, it’ll last longer and has higher quality. Tresemme is an affordable professionally used brand. I buy the huge bottles of shampoo and matching conditioner (anti-breakage being my preference). They use it on tons of celebrities at the salon and models (as noted on Project Runway). If you prefer a more expensive brand than take the splurge, it will cost less in the long run (buy large).

6. Lookbook.nu- If your looking for inspiration to style your own wardrobe look no further than this website. People from all over the world post their outfits up; allowing visitors to give their outfits “hype” if they like the aesthetic. The photography skills shown in these post are pretty, pretty, pretty good themselves. Feel free to post your own picture and see how many people dig your look! Its cultured, its fun and its a good way to past the time (if your looking for a distraction). I use it often when studying too hard takes its toll.

7. Karla’s Closet- Another website I turn to for a fashionably fun distraction is karlascloset.blogspot.com. A spanish gal from the west coast, takes daily photos of her ridiculously chic outfits and post them online. She has gotten enough fan fare that she makes bank off advertisement space. Using scenic backdrops to display her trendy faux hawk, kick ass shoes and badass outfits Karla is a rising fashion icon.

There you have it the seven (my lucky number) things to do for a better feeling you. I hope at least. Keep an open mind, don’t judge any of these until you try it, that would be prejudice of course. I hope out of this busy year you can make time for you. I know we barely get time to sleep. College students especially; studying is important but so is your health.

P.s I mean that physically and mentally; stress can take a huge toll on you too, so rest your brain for a hot minute! Body and mind people

P.p.s One more interesting tidbit I have it to think twice when buying your fruit and veggies.

8. The numbers on the stickers (the first one) usually coincide with the way it was grown. If it starts with 3 or lower it was genetically created (erlack!). If it is a four it was grown naturally but treated with pesticides to rid it of insects. If it starts with a 9 that means it was organically grown. 4 or more is good 3 or below hell no.

I rant about all the remakes coming out and lack of originality seen.

Once upon a time, long, long ago the Unites States was filled with creativity, imagination and innovation. We landed on the moon before the Russians, propelled cars to new heights and we were even number one in scientific development. Now a days we borrow, cheat and steal. My particular tiff lies with “our” television and movie programming. Every time I turn on my t.v I see a show stolen from the U.K and a movie from Asia.

There is a seemingly new show coming out on ABC called The Shark Tank. In hopes of getting an investor, inventors go into a room filled with five multi-millionaires and pitch their product or idea. Afterwards they are critiqued and asked a series of questions. Then each investor states whether they want to back them up or not and why. Brilliant! I would tune in, but I am afraid I have been watching this show for several months already on BBC and its called The Dragons Den. It is literally the same show with a bunch of British people.

The show stealing doesn’t end there, it was announced just today that MTV will be remaking the British show Skins. Skins is a teenage based show that follows adolescents as they grow up in England; think Degrassi: The Next Generation with less censorship. Although I have never viewed the show I have a feeling the American version will not be as good. With the FCC always crawling up someone’s bum there is no way the show will have the same effect. Not every show can be The Office after all.

When it comes to movies, particularly horror films, we turn to Asia. We have stolen The Ring, The Eye and any other remotely interesting film. FYI the original versions are far creepier. We have even began taking shows. Like ABC’s summer hit Wipeout. Contestants compete on a game show trying to overcome a series of intense obstacles. There are two narrators who make humorous commentary; once again I have been watching this show already for years and its called Unbeatable Banzuke. It is a show originated from Japan and plays on the cable network G4. The obstacles on the Unbeatable Banzuke are far more complicated, challenging and funnier.

In a weird way we have even been stealing from ourselves! Come on people how many remakes can we take, there is going to be a Dirty Dancing remake, a Footloose remake, a Halloween remake, even a blasphemous Ten Things I Hate About You remake (which is being turned into a ABC family series…BARF!). We have seen all these stories before. Please come out with something new. The only thing anyone puts effort into is reality television, fun but not good. I am waiting for the next person to blow my mind. I know they are coming soon. There has to be something good heading our way. Until then I will continue to be addicted to True Blood, the best show on television. I will also be tuning in to this years fall programming to check for any pleasant surprises. I have a hunch Glee will not disappoint.

Funny man and former SNL alum, Jimmy Fallon, is changing the late night formula. Due to Jay Leno leaving The Late Show and being replaced by Conan O’Brien; Fallon was able to acquire O’Briens old slot. Upon hearing the news I was skeptical; in my eyes Jimmy Fallon didn’t have the talent for such a task. His career died after SNL; his most notable work at the time was the movie Taxi, co-starring Queen Latifah. In his defense he did have a cameo in, Almost Famous and starred in the movie Fever Pitch, alongside Drew Barrymore. Niether resonated with fans nor the box office. Fallon was endearing, not bankable.

Boy am I EATING my words. Fallon is a refreshing, innovative host and has quickly become my favorite. I am now an avid fan tuning in nightly to see what he does next. Fallon’s late night antics are making history! For starters, his interaction with the audience is unparalleled. Fallon incorporates the audience in ways such as:

Lick something for ten dollars- where audiences members are asked to lick various items for a mere ten bucks; it is then played back in slow motion.

Solve the beef role play- where Fallon ask the audience to play the roles of feuding celebrities, who at first insult each other and then solve their problems.

Facebook- Where they have a digital facebook page that uses different audience members as the profile picture. He leaves funny statuses, places them in photos and gives them funny wall post.

Contest- he holds contest where the audiences members compete for a prize, some absurd some amazing. He has had air drum contest (winner gets a new set of drums). A bing search engine contest, where he ask a question and they have to find it as fast as they can. He even holds dance contest, where viewers make videos and send them in, or dance on stage.

When he makes a corny joke he gives the joke card to an audience member.

He’s had legendary photographer, Mark Siegel take a photo of him with the whole live audience.

Fallon really knows how to keep the fans happy. When it comes to customer service he surpasses the viewers expectation. Involving them, giving them who they came to see, even running through the audience at the end to shake everyones hand. As someone who has attended a late show, Conan’s to be exact, I know this behavior is unprecedented. Even when you merely watch you can see the difference.

The same can be said with his celebrity interviews. They are far from the usual ones you get with all the other host. Fallon actually involves them in skits; Alec Baldwin and Will Ferrel have both played the dude who takes an audience member and messes up their hair and face. All whilst Jimmy is in the background singing, it’s so weird its funny.

Let Me Play With Your LOok

He also engages celebrities in games, which is my favorite part. Resulting in me wanting to see what is going to happen, rather than change the channel because of who it is. He has had Tiger Woods play him in Wii golf, Alec Baldwin box him with giant gloves, Will Arnett have a refrigeration organization contest, the list continues.

Fallon also makes the funniest pop cultural references, with his mini series 7th Floor West. A parody of the MTV series The Hills. From the theme song to the vapid conversations it is dead on. My depiction of the show in words would not do it justice. The same can be said for his skit the Head Swap; where Fallon goes through various obstacles to complete his idea of swapping two celebrities heads onto different bodies for the show.

Last but not least Fallon has The Roots, as his late night band! Not some obscure men who lead a jazz band, only to gain notoriety as being that dude who leads the big jazz band on the show. No offense to the guys who have made careers out of it. Who else can say they have an actual, well liked and known band for their daily show. Jimmy Fallon you have taken me by surprise on a brilliant ride into late night comedy. Your humble attitude is adorable, as you seem so star struck with each guest you have on. I expect amazing things from and for you, you are a shooting star ascending nightly. Thank you for making late night fun Fallon.

“It’s not acceptable to call people the N-word, just as it’s not acceptable to call people the M-word. The chosen term now is L.P, or little person”- Michael Petruzzelli, President of Little People of America’s Long Island division.

The Little People of America have united, in a seemingly frivolous attempt, to get the word midget banned from television. Outrage started over Donald Trumps television show, Celebrity Apprentice. A challenge resulted in contestants creating a laundry soap ad called, Jesse James and The Midgets. In which midgets were washed and hung up to dry. The Little People of America has since emailed, telephoned and written letters to the FCC and Trump, but have been ignored.

I for one am not shocked that the FCC has not responded. The FCC only cares about the elite; they cater to Oprah and Donald Trump. If it were Howard Stern they would have been fined his ass. Furthermore I personally feel that the Little People are overreacting and over exaggerating. I’m sorry but the word midget is not even close to the word nigger. The word nigger comes with years and years of abuse, slavery, torture, imprisonment and prejudice. I do not recall midgets enduring centuries of slavery. People are so quick to compare any offensive word to the N word; reality is, those words don’t have any of the same stigmas attached to it. The word faggot or dyke (or any other racial slur) I could understand, because someone is saying it to be hateful. Those words are used intentionally to make people feel bad. I do not use the word midget to discriminate against someone. Few people do.

The word used on the apprentice was not the problem, the actions were. Jesse James and the Little People, would be just as offensive if they were going to wash them and hang them to dry. The act of treating a person as piece of clothing is the offensive part.

I truly do respect that fact that people want to be liberated with a term they feel comfortable with. Yet I just don’t think this is one of them. If more than just the Long Island branch complained I might take it more seriously, after a series of personal debates with little people. I feel like calling them little people makes them seem like children. I will respect their cause as well as follow it to my best, but as far as changing society’s use of the word it’s just not going to happen. Sorry, find something else to bitch about.

During the holidays I went to this free clinic on the Upper East Side; Mount Sinai located on 320 94th and York, for information about birth control. I previously didn’t take it, because I heard you gain weight and it seemed like a hassle. I figured I would try it out after friends convinced me I would NOT, in fact, get larger. So I mosey on down there with the sole intention of being educated on some methods I could use. Well I ended up with a full check up, an std test and possible therapy. They really guilt you into things. So finally around hour two they decided to send me to the person I came to see, the lady with the pills-yeah! They send me to this blond bitch, yes bitch, she was soooo rude! She told me several methods I could use:

The Nuva Ring- This clear ring that seems to be filled with liquid hormones (?) that you place in your vagina for three weeks. Your suppose to take it out the last week for menstruation. I just didn’t like the way it sounded, nor did I understand how the ring would stay in place unperturbed.

A Shot- A needle that gives you three months worth of hormones per injection. That’s just not right, I mean honestly. Plus I despise needles- no thank you.

Diaphragm- A shallow, soft, latex cup which is inserted into your vagina. I just straight up don’t want something extra in my vagina. Anyway it stays in there for two years and I rejected that as well.

The Pill- There are several different types of pills you can take. I was given the one that builds mucous in your cervix(?) preventing sperm from sneaking they way in. You take the pill orally everyday at the same time. If you skip a day you have to take two the next day at your usual time.

I took whatever pills they “prescribed” to me; I use quotations because they just picked randomly. There was no test or questions to see which pill was my best fit. I’m not really sure if they do that type of thing but still. I digress. So I started taking these pills and I have been taking them ever since mid December.

My first week taking the pills I’d wake up with crippling nausea and could not begin my day without first puking up bile. Not the way to start a morning. I was worried. The clinic gave me three months worth of pills in a brown paper bag. Sans a detailed list of instructions, listing proper use of pills and side effects. I called my friend Laur and asked her if that ever happened to her. She freaked me out more by not only saying no, but insisting that it never happens to anyone and I’m definitely pregnant. I listened to my instincts and rode it out, assuming my body was just getting use to the extra hormones. It worked. But then the mood swings occurred, starting off mild, as time progressed becoming extreme. Things that usually did not irritate me suddenly did, things I usually wanted to do I stayed away from. Sunny days on roofs and in parks were no longer on my to do list. I became reclusive, suffering from chest pains I blamed on being heavy set, diarrhea, vomiting, leg cramps, depression and eventually suicidal thoughts. I was a walking ball of emotion. I could feel the mental imbalance, my head had that feeling you get when you wake up without enough sleep. That groggy feeling.

After transferring my prescription over to my nearest pharmacy, CVS, the answers to all my bodily insanity was finally answered. I recieved the list the clinic failed to give me. I was feeling all the side effects of the pills, in the worse way. I should have consulted a doctor but instead I pushed on. I would feel like myself one week of every month, the last week in the pack. The pills that don’t do anything, because you have your period. During that week I would decide to try again; no one else I knew had a bad experience, I must have been doing something wrong. That’s when my moods got really bad. My emotional pendulum swung between anger, crying and suicidal. Almost detroying my relationship.

I finally decided to stop taking birth control this month. Finding a better method is my latest endeavor. I look back at all the wasted months I spent turning into an emotional monster. I lost myself in the depression and it almost took me under. I cannot believe how much a small pill can change your whole being. Making me my exact opposite, negative and cynical. I actually forgot who I use to be, the optimism and sunshine that burst from my pores. For anyone experiencing the same birth defect STOP! It really is not worth it. You are not alone. Seek help. I know most of us think the effects won’t affect us, but everyone is different. I do not yet know why my body reacted so poorly to it, but I am sure there is something for me out there. Make sure you find the right method for yourself.

In the past year the debate for martial equality has grown increasingly intense. Recent attention has been bought to the topic due to the annual Miss American Pageant. Infamous blogger and self proclaimed ‘gossip gangsta’, Perez Hilton, was a judge and asked Miss California, Carrie Prejean, her thoughts on same sex marriage. In response Prejean stated “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but thats how I was raised.”

While I respect her opinion, as well as her right to free speech, I cannot help the feeling of disgust I have for this type of intolerance. People have a right to their opinion, but this doesn’t make their opinion right. To me it is the same as if someone said something racially charged, such as “I like spanish people, but I just don’t want them in my country, thats how I was raised.” Either way you are discriminating and taking away the rights of a person because of something they cannot help. I know some people out there would say homosexuality is a choice, which is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. Almost as absurd as the institutions that believe they can change peoples sexuality. The only choice one has in these circumstances is whether they will be honest with who they are, despite the hatred they will possibly face. Why would a person choose to make their lives more difficult? Why would they choose to face all the hatred and shame they feel from people who don’t understand their lifestyle? It makes no sense. In fact most people I have met try to be straight, or choose to be straight despite their sexuality, because of the shame these intolerable people make them feel.

Why are people so threatened by homosexuality?

The most common defense for ones open dislike for same sex relationships is the Bible. It says in Leviticus 20:13 “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a womankind, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” First off if we are going to take this literally, it is saying as soon as a man lies with another man, as he lies with a woman, he will die instantly and blood will be upon them. I don’t see dead bodies loitering the streets of New York or San Francisco, sorry Leviticus but you were wrong. I also can’t help but laugh a little at someone who takes the bible verbatim, because the truth is we don’t know who wrote the bible and they are always editing the bible. Furthermore, a harsh reality is that the bible also says some pretty terrible things that we choose to ignore today.

Some idiotic quotations from the bible include:

“Only 144,000 male virgins who have not defiled themselves with women will be allowed into heaven.” Revelation 14:1-4 states this, which also happens to mean that no matter what women don’t go to heaven. Hear that Prejean you are not allowed into heaven just like the gays, in fact being with a woman defiles men.

“Let your women keep silent in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience. And if they inquire on any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is disgraceful for women to speak in church” I Corinthians 14:34-35, this is pretty self explanatory and equally ridiculous.

“If no proof of the girls virginity can be found (no cloth with blood provided by her father) she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house, there the men of her town shall stone her to death. You must purge the evil from among you.” Deuteronomy 22:13-21 and once again enough said.

“Do not approach a woman during the uncleanliness of her monthly period. It is better to not look at her” From our very own Leviticus 18:19.

“If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her, he shall pay the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl for he has violated her. They may never divorce.” Deuteronomy 22:28, this is once again self explanatory, if a man rapes a woman she has to marry him after he pays her dad.

Unfortunately there are worse things said in the bible. What bothers me the most is the contradictions and inconstancies of the things said. People literally just pick and choose what they want, if your going to follow something do not half ass it. I would respect Prejean and her kin folks opinion if I saw them fully following all these things, but DON’T pick what you want to put others down about who they are. I find it odd that people want to live their lives based on a book that says its okay to rape women and you shouldn’t look at women when they have their periods. I am truly calling BULLSHIT. I find that these nay sayers are hateful people who have started wars, spread hatred and take away the rights of others-DISGUSTING! If anything according to the bible all these women walking around scantily clad, for people besides their husbands should be put to death.

These people are hypocrites to the fullest! Prejean provides a great example of this with her nude photos, which she lies (breaking a COMMANDMENT) about and says she took when she was 17. WRONG ANSWER, turns out she took them post boob job (defiling ones body something else the bible doesn’t condone) just months before being crowned Miss California. Let’s be real she probably isn’t a virgin either, like most people who don’t practice what they preach cough PALIN FAMILY cough… oh Bristol.

On a side note, these are the same people who cannot even point to a direct text in the bible where it even says Jesus was born on Christmas and that you should be celebrating birthdays and all these other holidays that have no connection with the bible. I dare one person to look this up and prove me wrong.

The most disturbing part of Prejeans answer is that you are suppose to be representing California, you are competing to represent everyone in America and guess what that includes homosexuals. How dare you outcast a certain group of our citizens. I have friends and family alike who should be able to live how they want and have the same rights as everyone else. Jesus was a lover of outcast and did not preach hatred, nor should you.

I cannot take comments like Prejeans lightly, telling people they cannot marry because of something they cannot help. Im sick of these people creating and spreading hatred.

Sexuality is not all that makes a person who they are, nor does ones color but just think, interracial marriage was banned until 1967. Blacks marrying whites, whites marrying asians, asians marrying blacks all of this wasn’t even allowed until some 40 years ago. Same sex inequality will be just the same, shocking that it was banned and in retrospect absolutely stupid!

From The Bad Girls Club to The Real Housewives of Orange County, bad female behavior is penetrating the airwaves. Take the Bad Girls Club, seven girls are picked to live in an L.A mansion with the choice to remain a bad girl or reform. As long as there is no violence amongst the house mates (which has happened every season to date), they are allowed to do whatever they want. Cue Means Girls. There are physical fights, verbal fights, alcohol up the wazoo and meaningless sexcapades. The girls who try to gain any sort of meaning often times can’t make progress, because they get caught up in the drama and craziness of the catty.

Pretty Wicked premiered in lieu of The Bad Girls Clubs; bitchy, vapid women are tricked into believing they are going on a show to be better than other women. To their surprise they are told they are ugly inside and must find inner beauty. Cue Mean Girls.

Even shows with grown, cougaresque, women such as Real Housewives of anything, especially Orange County, exhibit the same behavior. Like orange Tamara trying to get equally orange Gretchen wasted on purpose. Why? So Tamara’s son, Ryan, can seduce her, thus proving she’s a whore. This last fact makes me slightly depressed, sure I understand these antics when your younger, but 40′s and 50′s seriously? The older you are the more inclined your are to judge others is what it seems like. The Orange County Crew are worse than the others at times…hmmm money really can’t buy class.

There are a slew of programs showcasing terrible female behavior; while male shows of the same caliber are slim to none. What kind of gender distortion is being sent out in society? As if women don’t have enough problems trying to maintain an appearance molded by the media; now our personalities are put on display as a matter of concern. Sheesh, can we get a break? Why not make a show about the dude whose an asshole, or the slutty dude? Do we even call dudes sluts or is that a term only reserved for women? Just trying to keep up with our double standards.

I would be lying if I said I did not enjoy these shows, I love them in fact. How can you not enjoy the same bitches who look at you funny on the street, try to process that their looks and manipulative behavior will not work anything, but against them. Its good television, you can’t look away, like a car crash. Seeing what these crazy women will do next has great appeal. Still my point remains valid. Airing these shows often desensitize these younger girls into believing its acceptable to behave this way. As if Paris Hilton didn’t do enough.

Truth is what we put on television is a reflection of our society. The way women are viewed and behave has changed a great deal. This is the time of the Bad girls of Hollywood (Lindsey,Winehouse, Paris…) rather than the Bad Boys (circa 80′s & 90′s Johnny Depp, Downey Jr, Russell Crowe…). There once was a standard of class women worked hard to portray, like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. I am not saying we have to go back but let’s just please try to keep some level of dignity.

Ladies, please make sure your daughters watch this with you one day, then you can explain to them that girls act that way-not women.

April 7th marked the 24th year in the life of a beautiful man, Michael Gore. While I said happy birthday to him about a million times and spent the whole day with him I still feel it necessary to write a little blurb for him.

Dear Michael,

We have been together for nearly 7 months now and I believe you are hands down the best thing that’s entered my life in a really long time. You are my best friend (except when I’m mad at you), you make me laugh, you hold my stuff when I vomit and you take care of me. Your there for me when I need you and if your not I know you will make it up to me. Your so sweet and kind, I wish there were more people out there like you. I feel so fortunate to have met you that blessed summer day, when I sat in tar on your roof. From day one you helped me out, giving me a new pair of jeans and burning the tar off my hands. Thinking back on it now you were the only who helped me lol. I felt comfortable with you from day one, especially when you smiled at me. I never seen someone smile the way you do, I’d never seen a face like yours and never met someone with such a positive outlook. You are the only person who eats my burnt peanut butter and jelly just to make me feel better about myself. You are my other half, my better half, the boy I adore.
